Dino Runner is an endless browser runner. Press Space or tap to jump over cacti and dodge flying obstacles as you sprint across a scrolling desert.
The run speeds up over time. One collision ends the run — chase a higher distance score each attempt.
The physics are fixed and worth knowing: the jump launches at 720 units per second against gravity of 2160, which works out to a peak of 120 units and about 0.67 seconds of hang time. The runner is 40 units tall on a 200-unit canvas, so that jump clears roughly three times its own height.
Obstacles start at 300 units per second and a new one can appear every 1.33 seconds. Because your jump covers about 200 units of ground while you are airborne, an obstacle needs to be roughly a fifth of a screen away when you leave the ground — much closer and you will land on it, much further and you will come down short.
Controls
- Space or Arrow Up / Tap — Jump (also starts the run)
- P — Pause
- Restart — New run
Tips & Tricks
- 1Time each jump so you are above a cactus when it reaches the runner
- 2Birds occupy changing heights, so watch their path before jumping
- 3The game accelerates — stay focused after score milestones
- 4Wait to land before trying to jump again
- 5With 0.67 seconds of hang time you cannot double-jump in the air, so every jump is a commitment of about two thirds of a second
- 6Score ticks up every sixth of a second rather than per obstacle, so survival time is the only thing that matters
- 7Jump when the obstacle is about a fifth of the screen away — that is the distance 0.67 seconds of hang time covers at starting speed
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an end?
It is endless until you hit an obstacle. Your score is the distance survived.
Does my high score save?
Your best run lasts for the current page session and resets when the page reloads.
How high can the runner jump?
About 120 units at peak, which is three times the runner's 40-unit height, with roughly 0.67 seconds in the air.
Can I jump while already in the air?
No. A new jump only registers after you land, so mid-air presses are ignored.
How fast do obstacles come?
They start at 300 units per second and a fresh one can spawn as often as every 1.33 seconds.
Which keys jump?
Space and Arrow Up both jump, and either will also start the run. P pauses.
