Jewel Match is a swap-based match-3 played on an 8x8 board — 64 cells holding seven jewel types. Click one jewel, then click an adjacent one to swap them. The swap only sticks if it forms a line of three or more identical jewels in a row or column; otherwise the two snap back.
Every cleared jewel is worth 10 points, so a plain three-in-a-row scores 30, a four-in-a-row 40, and a five-in-a-row 50. Cleared cells refill from the top, and the falling jewels can line up new matches on their own. Those chain reactions are scored as separate rounds, resolved one every half second, which is where most of the points come from.
There is no timer and no move limit. A move counter tracks how many swaps you have made, and the run continues as long as valid swaps remain on the board.
Controls
- Click two adjacent jewels — Swap if a match forms
- Restart — New random grid
Tips & Tricks
- 1Work along the bottom rows: clears near the base drop more jewels and trigger longer chains than clears at the top
- 2A swap that sets up two matches at once is worth more than two separate single matches, because the refill can chain them together
- 3Scan the board row by row before committing — with 64 cells the good swap is often not the obvious one
- 4Watch the half-second chain window; if the first clear is about to cascade, do not swap again until it settles or you may break the falling pattern
- 5With seven jewel types, long identical runs are rare, so do not hold a spot waiting for a five-in-a-row that may never come
- 6Prefer swaps on the left and right edges last, since edge cells have fewer neighbours and fewer chances to join a chain
Frequently Asked Questions
Does every swap have to make a match?
Yes. A swap is only accepted when it creates a line of three or more identical jewels; otherwise the jewels return to their original cells and the move is not counted.
How many points is a match worth?
Each cleared jewel scores 10 points, so three in a row is 30, four is 40, and five is 50. Chains add up as extra rounds of the same rate.
How do chain reactions work?
After a clear, jewels above fall into the gaps. If the falling jewels form a new line, that line clears too. Each cascade resolves roughly half a second after the previous one.
Is there a time limit or move limit?
Neither. The board refreshes only when you restart, and the move counter is there for you to compare runs, not to end them.
What ends a run?
A run ends when no swap anywhere on the board can produce a match. Restarting deals a fresh random grid.
How many jewel types are there?
Seven, spread across 64 cells. That mix is why four- and five-in-a-row clears are uncommon and worth taking when they appear.
