Pool is a browser 8-ball billiards game. Play turn-based 8-ball against the CPU or a friend on the same device (hotseat). The first object ball pocketed after the break assigns that shooter solids (1โ7) or stripes (9โ15); the opponent gets the other group. Pocket your group balls to keep your turn and build combos, then legally sink the 8-ball to win. A miss, scratch, or wrong-group pot ends your turn.
The physics are worth knowing before you aim. Shots top out at 15.5 units per frame with a 150-unit maximum pull, and the cloth applies 0.9865 friction per frame โ meaning a full-power shot loses roughly a third of its speed over the first hundred frames but keeps rolling for a long time after. Balls also rebound at 94% off each other and 78% off a cushion, so a hard shot into a rail comes back noticeably softer than it went in.
The rack is a standard 15-ball triangle with the 8-ball in the centre of the third row, and pockets are 20 units in radius โ a little over one and a half ball widths.
Controls
- Choose Vs CPU or 2 Players on the start screen
- Drag back from the cue ball to aim, then release to shoot
- Arrow keys / WASD: aim and adjust power ยท Hold Space to charge
- In 2 Players mode, pass the device when the turn changes
- Tap the fullscreen button for an immersive view (works on phones; Esc exits CSS fullscreen)
Tips & Tricks
- 1Chain pots for combo score multipliers
- 2A miss hands the table to your opponent โ play safe when needed
- 3Clear your group before hunting the 8-ball
- 4Break with controlled power so you can claim a group
- 5Cushions return the ball at 78% of its speed, so a soft shot into a rail comes back much slower โ use that to leave the cue ball safe
- 6With 0.9865 friction per frame, balls roll a long way; a shot that looks too soft often still reaches
- 7Pockets are 20 units against a ball radius of about 12, so a shot hitting the jaw at a shallow angle will rattle out โ straighter is better than harder
Frequently Asked Questions
Can two people play?
Yes โ pick 2 Players for local hotseat on one device. Pass the phone or laptop each turn.
When do I pick solids or stripes?
Whichever side pots the first object ball claims that group; the opponent takes the other.
How do turns work?
Pot your ball to shoot again. Miss, scratch, or pot the wrong group and it becomes the opponent's turn.
How much power can a shot have?
Up to 15.5 units per frame, reached by pulling the cue back the full 150 units.
Why does the cue ball keep rolling?
Cloth friction is 0.9865 per frame, so speed decays slowly โ plan for the ball to travel further than it looks.
Are the pockets generous?
They are 20 units in radius, roughly 1.6 ball widths, which is tight enough that off-angle shots rattle out.
