How to Play
Solitaire (Klondike-style) is a single-player card puzzle. Build four foundation piles from Ace to King in each suit. Move cards between tableau columns in descending alternating colors.
Draw from the stock to waste and uncover buried tableau cards. Clear all cards to the foundations to win.
The deal is standard Klondike: seven tableau columns holding 28 cards, with the first column face-up and each later column hiding one more card than the last, leaving 24 in the stock. Building the four foundations from Ace to King in suit order means moving all 52 cards, so the practical game is about which face-down cards you can unlock earliest.
When the stock empties, the waste is recycled back into it, so you can pass through the deck again rather than being cut off.

- 5Column one starts with a single face-up card and column seven has six buried ones, so early progress almost always comes from the right-hand columns
- 6Do not empty a column unless you have a king ready — an empty column without a king to fill it is wasted
- 7Hold cards in the tableau rather than rushing Aces up: a low card in a foundation can no longer accept a card you need to park
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I move partial stacks?
Yes, if the move follows alternating-color descending rules.
How many times can I cycle the stock?
There is no fixed limit. When the stock runs out the waste is turned back over, so you can work through the deck again.
Is every deal winnable?
No. Some Klondike shuffles are unsolvable no matter how well you play, which is why win rate rather than perfection is the realistic goal.
How is the board dealt?
Seven tableau columns with one to seven cards, the top card of each face-up, and the remaining 24 cards face-down in the stock.
What goes on the foundations?
Each of the four foundations takes one suit, built from Ace through to King.
Can I put anything in an empty column?
Only a king, or a stack headed by a king. That is what makes an empty column so valuable.
